This Tuesday, Oceanside High School will raise money for the American Cancer Society with a “Coaches Vs. Cancer” fundraiser night. Hosted by Oceanside’s Allenby Lyson and Joseph Supple, the night will honor those who are battling cancer, those we have lost, and the brave survivors – all of whom we know and love.
The fundraiser is part of the bigger Relay For Life the Oceanside School District is participating in. The night will start with a light-hearted but surely enjoyable game between the coaches and faculty before the Lady Sailors take on Hempstead at 7:00. T-shirts will be available as well as refreshments, with all proceeds benefiting the cause.
To honor those loved ones the team has started to create a Wall of honor in the gym, where people can donate money in the name of someone they know battling cancer, celebrate a survivor or honor a life that was lost to cancer.
Coach Supple says that his goal for the girls alone is to raise $5,000, but by the end of the fundraiser he’s hoping for a total of at least $10,000. “I know a lot of teachers, faculty, and students who have been affected by cancer in Oceanside. I think that this is a good opportunity for the community to come together and join the fight against cancer.” Bring your friends and family, to the high school at 5:00 and help Oceanside fight cancer.
