A welcome back to everyone here at OHS! The Sider Press is coming off a great year as we fully transitioned into a digital publication and we are looking forward to improving as a publication and growing our audience. The staff here is already hard at work to bring stories that matter to these pages. It is the goal of the staff to engage with the readership and be a source of information for the students at OHS and the members of this community. The Sider Press was acknowledged as a top digital publication among high schools on Long Island by the Journalism Department at LIU Post in its annual awards ceremony. Many students garnered individual awards last year including our former editor-in-chief Ariel Harsinay who won the Robert W. Greene Investigative/Enterprise Journalism award. Brianna Stanco, one of our editors-in-chief this school year grabbed third place in that same category for her work investigating the Dark Web.
Please enjoy the content we begin to put up this year and feel free to contact us with any suggestions. Share the articles that matter to you and spread the word. If you are interested in joining the award winning staff here at the Sider Press take the Digital Journalism class or contact the adviser Mr. Perri and join the club which meets Wednesdays after school.
