This mind-boggling movie is inspired by a minimalistic, perfect 1950’s life. Harry Styles, playing Jack Chambers,, and Florence Pugh, playing Alice Chambers, are one of the many happy couples living in this ‘perfect’ neighborhood. Although the families seem to be living a typical 50’s lifestyle with the wives cooking and cleaning and the husbands working all day long, it is clear to see that something truly is not right in this neighborhood. The chilling scenes of dissociation provide the movie with a sense of discomfort. The constant gaslighting Alice faces throughout the movie really puts things in perspective. I think the movie represents a time like the 1950’s very well. The men in Alice’s life do not take her seriously because she is a woman with strong views.

The acting in Don’t Worry Darling, in my opinion, was good; however, I think Harry Styles could have been better. I think he could have delivered some of his lines better. One scene in particular is taking the internet by storm with people stating that Harry styles did not deserve to be in this movie and that his acting was horrible. I personally don’t think Harry’s acting was horrible. I just think that it could’ve been a bit better. Many people, including me, went to see this movie to witness Harry’s first leading role in a movie. I think without Harry Styles or Florence Pugh being in the movie, the amount of people interested in the film would be drastically different. The majority of people who were watching this movie in theaters were all wearing Harry Styles merchandise which hints that many audience members were there just too see Harry.

Overall, Don’t Worry Darling was a solid movie and the mind-twisting scenes leave you wondering what might happen next. The cliffhanger at the end of the movie leaves you wondering what could have happened to Alice. If you ever happen to catch yourself looking for a movie to watch, I highly recommend Don’t Worry Darling.

by Aleena Khan On September 23rd, Don’t Worry Darling featuring Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde, Florence Pugh and Chris Pine hit theaters.
