The annual OHS Life Fit game took place on March 3rd, 2023 in the Oceanside High School Gymnasium. OHS Ace Students played basketball against the Long Beach Bulldogs. Students, teachers, families, and friends alike filled up the stands to watch the game. Baskets were made and smiles were brought to everyone’s faces. Life Fit was created about 15 years ago from an association called SASO, but Mr. Gilbert and Mr. Barbaccia have had the pleasure of taking over and running the club here at Oceanside High School for the past four years. These teachers have improved the Life Fit program over the years and created this special event for these student athletes. \u201cThe reason why Life Fit was created is to give everyone the opportunity to show off their talents whether it be sports, theatre, art, etc. We give our Ace classes the opportunity to show off their skills to the whole school,\u201d said Mr. Barbaccia.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Throughout the season, close bonds are formed between students, coaches, teachers, and aides. \u201cThis is a great time to show school spirit and support one another from all parts of the school. A lot of different departments were involved – it takes an entire school to put on this event from the students to teachers to administration. Seeing everyone get together to put on this event just goes to show how spectacular our school really is,\u201d said Mr. Gilbert. Life Fit games are still happening, so if you haven\u2019t gotten a chance, come down and support the students of OHS.
