It is an exam that students are encouraged to take to possibly earn Merit Scholarships for college. The PSAT questions are based on Reading, Writing, and Math and the exam is considered a practice version of the main SAT that is usually taken by 11th and 12th graders.

Students should take the PSAT because it can result in college scholarships (based on how you perform) and it will help better prepare you for the SAT. If you get a high enough score then you may be eligible to earn money towards college. OHS also offers PSAT practice classes so that you don’t have to blindly go into the exam without having any idea what is on the exam. The PSAT is also beneficial because it will prepare you for the real SAT and provide you with test-taking experience.

If you’re interested in taking the PSAT, you can take “cram” classes here at OHS hosted by Method Learning on October 13th and October 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. To register for these practice classes, go to methodlearning/oceanside.com. The PSAT will be offered here at OHS at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 17th.
