There are many excellent Korean dramas currently on Netflix. Here are a few of my favorites:
DISCLAIMER: THESE SERIES CAN TOUCH ON MANY SENSITIVE TOPICS.
- Title: Sweet Home
Genre: Kdrama, Sci-fi, Horror
Subtitles: English
Description: A world where humans turn into savage monsters and terrorize everyone and anyone around. One trouble filled teen and his apartment neighbors fight to survive, and hold onto their humanity.
Sweet Home was a very interesting show, in my opinion the plot was great. The monsters in the series were cool, but you can obviously tell it’s CGI. This show has some action filled moments, and sad moments as well.
2. Title: Daily Dose Of Sunshine
Genre: Kdrama, Comedy, Medical Drama
Subtitles: English
Description: A medical drama about the many kinds of incidents that can happen in a psychiatric ward, based on real life experiences that can happen to anyone. The Main Character, who also happens to be a new nurse in the unit goes through many challenges with the patients.
Daily Dose Of Sunshine was a realistic show to say the least. This drama shows mental health problems as they are. This has a very unique way in showing how each Mental Diagnoses works and what you should do to help that person out. This show has very touching and sad moments. This show is also very big on the “Right person at the wrong time,” so try not to get your hopes up.
3. Title: Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Genre: Kdrama, Romance, Drama, Comedy
Subtitles: English
Description: This drama follows a female rookie attorney with autism, who is hired by a big law firm in Seoul. She memorized a full law book when she was still very young, so she was seen as a genius by her father. Her love for the law led her into being an attorney.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a very nice and calming show for me. The main character’s whale fixation is what interests me the most. I also love how she connects the cases she takes on to whales of any kind. Even though her coworkers think there is never a time and place to talk about whales in a law firm (which there isn’t), she still finds ways to incorporate them into her everyday life.
4. Title: All Of Us Are Dead
Genre: Kdrama, Action, Horror, Thriller, Romance, Drama, Comedy
Subtitles: English
Description: This series fixates on a group of high school students in a fictional South Korean City of Hyosan, and their struggles to survive the zombie apocalypse. These trapped students either have to find their way out or become one of the many people who were affected in the outbreak.
All Of Us Are Dead had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was watching. Many people have probably watched this series, but I have rewatched it multiple times because of how good it is. This show does look very realistic, and that’s what made it even more exciting.
5. Title: 20th Century Girl
Genre: Romance, Drama, Comedy, Teen
Subtitles: English
Description: This drama follows the first love and friendships of a high school student. This is a coming-of-age drama that deals with the love and loss of people, and teaches viewers be true to themselves.
20th Century Girl made me cry the first time I watched it. I still cry every time I watch it, no matter how beautiful this movie may seem. They still manage to have this come out with a sad ending. other than that, this movie was beautiful.
