During the summer, there are so many fun opportunities and adventures to partake in with family and friends. Cape May, Lake George, Newport, and Rehoboth Beach are popular getaways for Long Islanders. They are located within driving distance and are such fun places to make new memories with the people you enjoy spending time with.

Cape May, NJ

Cape May is located in New Jersey and is famous for its boardwalks and beaches. Cape May has a lighthouse, many historic buildings, parasailing, mini golf, and there are even whale and dolphin cruises. Cape May has excellent restaurants such as George’s Place for breakfast, El Pueblo Taqueria for lunch, and The Pier House for dinner. There are also many other restaurants, wineries, and coffee shops located in Cape May.

Lake George is another great place to visit for a summer getaway and is located at the Southern End of Adirondack Park. Lake George is considered one of the clearest and cleanest lakes in the world. If you go down to the lake you can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, and you can even try out parasailing. Lake George also has a boardwalk and many beautiful restaurants. Summer is really the prime time to visit Lake George, and it is definitely worth the drive.

Newport, Rhode Island, is the perfect place for a summer getaway. Newport has many gorgeous coastal views, scenic walks, beaches, and harbors. The main street in Newport Rhode Island is Thames Street which has a collection of local shops and conventional stores. There are several restaurants and neighborhoods that can be explored by foot. If you’re interested in exercise, there are cliff walks, bike paths, trails, a bird sanctuary, and, of course, a boardwalk.

Lastly, Rehoboth Beach is a cute, warm, sunny, and sandy beach, and is one of Delaware’s most visited beaches. It has evolved into a bustling beach town with a variety of attractions and activities. For example, located in Rehoboth Beach, there are amusement parks, a mile-long boardwalk, a water park, mini golf, and other fun activities. Rehoboth Beach has a downtown area as well, consisting of restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors, and music.

All in all, Cape May, Lake George, Newport, and Rehoboth Beach are all great places to visit during the summer and are all within driving distance for an opportunity to enjoy a quick family road trip. These are all popular places to visit, and they all have beaches to soak up the fun and create new memories throughout the summer.
