This past weekend was the annual OHS Sport Night. Sport Night was created to celebrate women in competitive athletic activities. These events consist of tug of war, races, and each team also creates their own dance.

The team colors, blue and white, are inspired by our school colors. Students also compete in art activities for each team to reflect each team’s theme. This year, the themes were “Blue York Fashion Week,” and “White to the Rescue”. Each team also gets their own senior captains. There are three senior captains, and one junior captain for each team. Their job responsibilities include placing students in certain activities, choreographing the team dance, and designing the team shirts.

Participants also compete in artwork that is made to match their team’s theme. The judges are staff from the building that decide who wins each activity. Whoever has the most points by the end of the competition wins.
The night before the competition, both teams have “TP night” at the opposing team’s houses – students, all in good fun, go around Oceanside to “TP” everyone’s house on the opposing team. Sport Night is a wonderful night of games and fun! Congratulations to this year’s winner: the Blue Team!
