Halloween is right around the corner and young kids and teenagers are getting ready to trick or treat. Trick or treating is always a lot of fun, but we want to make sure that we remain safe. There are plenty of unwritten rules to follow while trick or treating. Whether you are a teenager trick or treating with your friends or accompanying a younger family member, safety should always come first. Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind this Halloween season.
When driving on the roads this Halloween, be extra careful because there will be plenty of pedestrian traffic on the streets. Be sure to yield to pedestrian traffic and pay attention to all road signs. It is important to be extra careful driving on Halloween because anything can happen with so many people on the streets.
When trick or treating be sure to cross the street safely. Look both ways, and make sure you’re travelling with others. It is also best to go trick or treating with someone instead of going by yourself. Stick with groups, and wear bright clothing so you will be noticeable to drivers as it gets dark. When crossing streets, keep your phones away so you are paying attention to the road and try to focus on going to homes that look safe and welcoming to trick or treaters.
Do not enter people’s homes. Keep all candy transactions outside! Lastly, do not steal people’s Halloween baskets that they may leave outside. It is disrespectful to steal extra candy, and it’s unfair to others who are trick or treating.
Please remember these tips while trick or treating on Halloween this year and have a wonderful time!
