Sailors Bounce Back

Sailors Bounce Back

by Matt Weininger

Oceanside improved to 4-1 with a 35-16 victory over Port Washington last weekend. With the victory, the Sailors bounced back from the loss against Massapequa two weeks ago. This was one of the better performances from Oceanside this season as they controlled the play throughout the game.

Once again the Sailors’ run game exploded as Nicky Cairo rushed for 160 yards and 5 touchdowns. This could very well be the best individual performance of the season for the Sailors. The Sailors relied heavily on the run game as starting quarterback Charlie Mckee did not play due to injury. The Sailors offense also had another turnover free game. Hopefully this offense can keep securing the ball as the season progresses.

Oceanside’s defense was once again on point holding Port Washington’s offense to just 16 points and causing one turnover. The standout player on the defense was Logan Lyson with 11 tackles. Lyson made big plays all night. Oceanside will look for another big time road win as they take on Syosset this Saturday afternoon.
