Oceanside Grounds the Jets on Senior Night

By MATTHEW WEININGER

On a very special Senior Night in Oceanside The Sailors collected their third straight win.  Oceanside beat East meadow 37-14 while key players like Matt Roesler and Richie Hosein are still injured. The team clicked on all cylinders this game and hopefully gained some momentum as they make that final push towards the playoffs.

Aside from the victory and celebrating the seniors, the big moment of the game was Charlie Mckee breaking Nassau county’s all time passing yards record. Passing Joe Capobianco who had previously held the record. The passing game was on fire for Oceanside. They had combined for over 250 passing yards. Receiver Dan Mckormick had his breakout game with 87 receiving yards and other receivers such as Michael Mecca, Ronnie Kramer and Logan Lyson had great games too.

The defense played an amazing game by keeping East Meadow to only 14 points. They  played better in the passing game this week than in the run game which is unusual for them, but overall could have been the best defensive game the Sailor’s have played all season. Oceanside looks to take on Freeport next week to finish off the regular season with a bang.
