Halloween Costume Contest 2021

The OHS Halloween Costume Contest isn’t just a bunch of Hocus Pocus. Every year, the costume contest takes place in the high school’s cafeteria, where students are judged on both individual and group costumes. The most creative costumes win for each category and winners are announced at the end of the day over the loudspeaker.

Usually, the Thespian Troupe does a group costume, and this year their theme was “The Safari”. The students dressed up as people on a safari in khaki pants, shorts, hats, and camouflage, while their teacher, Mrs. Taplin, dressed as an animal. My group came as the Mystery Gang, complete with our own Mystery Van. There were so many creative costumes roaming the hallways. I saw people dressed as the Pillsbury Dough Girl, a bunch of grapes, a bush, some witches, and lots of people in creatively put together dresses.

Here’s a list of this year’s winners:

Funniest Costume: “Pillsbury Dough Girl” by Brianna Boyce, Most Original Costume: “The Scarecrow” by Mia Gozinsky, Best Group Costume: “The Safari” by the Thespian Troupe and Mrs. Taplin, and Best Overall Costume: Tie between “Annabelle” by Brianna Clarke and “Bush” by Connor Jaffe.

Great job to everyone who participated!
