Our OHS softball team, coached by Carlo Quagliata, Alex Pallatto and Patrick Broder, has had a fun run of competitive games to begin the season. We played some tough competitors from Conference 1 including rivals Massapequa HS, Mepham HS, and East Meadow, and one thing is for sure – our Oceanside girls won’t go down without a fight. A majority of our games have been on the road for the first half of the season, and we currently have a record of 4-7. We recently played a competitive game at Mepham HS for 6 innings straight and fought hard against the Pirates. We are very proud of the girls’ performance in that game despite the fact that we lost 3-2.

We also played a great game against Massapequa recently. Massapequa has always been our rivals. They mercied us during our first meeting of the season, but the outcome was much different the second time around – we played together as a team at home and beat the Chiefs 3-0!!! In this game, Samantha Chaisson, a sophomore, went 3-for-3 with a homerun, leading our Sailors against ‘Pequa’s challenging pitcher Kim Westerberg. Senior Samantha Reyer also added an RBI single for our Conference 1 win. We are very proud of our Lady Sailors and can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out. We are excited to also honor our Seniors who will be graduating this upcoming June: Ashlee Martinez, Samantha Reyer, Skylar LoPiccolo, Alexandra Vlahakis, Emily Pignataro, Erin Mauro, Cristina Ryan, Emma Mainland and Julia Lane. Now, as we come to the second half of the season, we are confident that we will dominate on our home turf. Keep up the good work ladies!
