The 40th year of the MTV VMA’s took place on September 10th at the UBS arena in Elmont New York. The night revolved around numerous awards, such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, and one of the biggest awards, the Vanguard Award. There were many performances in different categories, such as rap, pop, and pop rock. The stage looked awesome and the arena’s audience was full of so many celebrities, such as actors, singers, and fans.
To start the night, the famous rapper Eminem opened the show with many Slim Shady clones singing “Houdini”, and “Somebody, Save Me”. There were several other performances, for example, the pop singer Sabrina Carpenter sang her new songs “Taste”, “Please, Please”, and “Espresso”. During the performance, she was surrounded by dozens of astronauts and stage props. Another great performance in the pop-rock category was by Benson Boone. He is a newer artist who performed “Beautiful Things” who has great stage presence and entertains with backflips. He has great confidence and is overall very talented.
In addition to their performances, many singers won big awards at the VMAS such as Artist of the Year, Best Cinematography, and Song of the Year. Artist of the Year was Taylor Swift, who also took home several other awards. She is inarguably the biggest artist in the world right now, and she is such an amazingly talented songwriter and singer. Ariana Grande won Best Cinematography with the song We Can’t Be Friends on her latest album. She is one of the most famous pop stars and actresses. In addition, song of the year was Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter. This song is so catchy and is always played on the radio. It is one of her biggest hits, if not the biggest.

Lastly, the crowd was packed, loud, and excited at UBS arena on September 10th at the VMA’S. So many pop stars, actors, fans, and singers attended. A few that were not pictured as much were Addison Rae, Tate McRae, and The Kid Laroi. They all had on beautiful outfits, took pictures, and had conversations with many other celebrities. I believe UBS arena was a good place to host the VMA’S because the setup was full of bright colors and everything was organized nicely such as the stage, seating, and production.
Overall, the 2024 VMA’S were very successful, entertaining, and had many winners and great performances. One of the best performances was by Katy Perry singing a mix of all her songs after she won the biggest award at the VMA, the Vanguard Award. A big congrats to all the individuals who won awards that night and performed on the big stage.
