From Left to Right: Logan Bowe, Matt Robley, Juan Rosero-Narvaez, Dom Califano, Kaitlyn Rey, Ava Morizio, Falyn Bonacore, Caroline Ferchland, Jordyn Andrews, and Sabrina Henriquez

Hello, my name is Logan Bowe, and I’ve been writing since my Sophomore year. I’m a Junior, 16, and focusing heavily on Theatre and Writing electives. My hope is to major in Psychology in College, become a psychologist, and use the money earned to fund plays and musicals that I write to end up writing for Broadway. I’m a Thespian and Tri-m member. I hope to continue writing honest, impactful, and strong-hitting articles.

Hi, I am Matthew Robley. I am a junior in the high school, and this is my first year as one of the Sider Press editors. I am writing for the Sider Press because writing is very important. In the future, I plan to major in or go into a writing career. One fact about me is that I love playing the drums. I love bands like Nirvana and Foo Fighters. I am also interested in harder metal like Slipknot. Another fact about me is that I love hockey. I play it and I love watching it; my family are huge Islander fans, and I always go to games with my family. This year I am looking forward to writing about the school productions, school sports, and many other events in our community.

My name is Juan Rosero-Narvaez, and I am a new student to the Oceanside district. My interests include cars and gastronomy, which is why I often journey to NYC to participate in events relating to them, such as food festivals and car meets. As a part of the school newspaper, I will do my best to write about matters that are of the best interest to the student body.

My name is Dominick Califano. I am 15 years old, turning 16 in February. I am in 10th grade, and I have fallen in love with history. I personally find history very interesting. As a part of the Sider Press, I will mainly be writing about historical events mainly focused on the 1900s-1980s. At home, I have two dogs, both beagles, one male and one female – their names are Boogie (M), and Winnie (F). Boogie is, at the time of writing this, two years old turning three in October; meanwhile Winnie is almost a year – we don’t know her exact age due to her being a rescue dog.

My name is Kaitlyn Rey. I’m 17 and in my senior year. At home I have an older brother. My favorite sport is hockey and my favorite team is the Islanders. In my free time, I like to watch sports (specifically football and hockey), hang out with my friends, go to the beach, and travel. Next year I would like to attend college and major in sports media and journalism (communications) and minor in sports marketing. In the future I would like to work as a sports journalist. I’m excited to write about sports for the Sider Press.

Hi my name is Ava Morizio, and I am 16 years old and a junior. My interests are athletics, reading, writing, and music. My current sport is competitive dance. I dance at Oceanside Dance Center and have been dancing there since I was two years old. My future plan is to be on a college dance team and major in English because I love to write my own stories and read other stories. I would also love to write my own book one day because I would love to have an impact on people’s lives. This year, I look forward to writing about local events and sports teams.

Hi, my name is Falyn Bonacore and this is my second year writing for the OHS Sider press. I look forward to writing about events and news that are associated with our school, students, and community, and I hope to draw interest from my readers regarding the ideas touched upon in my articles. As a 16 year old 11th grader, I’m in Key club, Best Buddies, and DECA, and I’m also in the process of applying for various student honor societies. My interests outside of school include Irish Step Dance, baking, and running. My brother just recently went away to college for his freshman year in Alabama, leaving me as an only child along with my dog, Rosie.

Hi, I am Jordyn Andrews. I am 16 and a junior in Oceanside high school. I am in Key Club and Best Buddies. I chose this class because I thought it would be fun to write for the school paper. My favorite things to do in my free time are hang out with my friends and spend time with family. Some fun facts are that I am an only child and have two dogs named Toby and Bam Bam. This year I look forward to writing about some of the school events that will be happening like the football games, sport night, and battle of the classes.

Hi, my name is Caroline Ferchland. I am a 16 year old junior at Oceanside High School. I plan on writing mainly about sports in the Sider Press this year. I play on the varsity softball team and love traveling. Seeing and exploring new places and things, like trying new foods, experiencing other cultures, or reading about something new has always interested me. Going to the beach is one of my favorite things to do, as well as spending time with my friends and family.

Hi, my name is Sabrina Henriquez. I’m 16 years old and a junior at Oceanside High School. My interests and hobbies include spending time with my family and friends, running, and shopping. I enjoy going to concerts and hockey games as well. My plans for the future are to be a speech pathologist and to work with children in schools.
