Super Bowl LX

Super Bowl LX

by Nick Greco

Super Bowl LX is set to take place on February 8th, 2026 at 6:30 EST. The matchup pits the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks (4.5 point favorites). These teams faced each other in the Super Bowl 11 years ago when the famous Maclom Butler interception on the one yard line happened and secured the victory for New England.

The Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos 10–7 in the AFC Championship Game to advance to face the Seahawks. In the NFC Championship, the Seahawks had to face the Rams for the third time this season. Coming off two very close games against them in the regular season, the Seahawks won the NFC Championship game 37-31. Super Bowl LX should be an exciting match up between two of the best defenses in the league.

The Super Bowl takes place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California (home of the 49ers). Since it is 2026, the AFC champion is the designated home team. Therefore, even though the Patriots were the lower seed, they are still considered the home team. The performers at the Superbowl are Charlie Puth singing the national anthem, Green Day playing the opening ceremony, and Bad Bunny, fresh off his Grammy for album of the year, performing the halftime show. Before the game, the NFL will recognize the new Hall of Fame inductees (TBA at the NFL Honors Ceremony on 2/5/26). The NFL will also announce the winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which goes to the player who is recognized for their outstanding work in community service. Each team in the league gets to nominate one. Finally, the NFL will also recognize past Super Bowl MVP winners.

Sam Darnold, Seattle QB, goes into the game as a man on a mission to prove everyone who doubted him wrong. Darnold goes into the game as the only quarterback from the 2018 draft class to reach the Superbowl. The 2018 draft class had the likes of 1x MVP Josh Allen, 2x MVP Lamar Jackson, and Baker Mayfield. Sam Darnold has the help of his amazing defense led by cornerback Devon Witherspoon and linebacker Ernest Jones. In addition, Darnold will be throwing the ball to offensive player of the year finalist JaxsonSmith-Njiba and former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp. Seattle will be facing the Patriots defense led by Defensive tackle Milton Williams and  Cornerback Christian Gonzalez and the Patriots offense spear headed by MVP finalist Drake Maye.

The Seahawks are ranked as the 6th best defense in the league, but Drake Maye has faced better defenses in the playoffs thus far. However, the Patriots have suffered from poor offensive success due to injuries and bad play. The Seahawks offensive has proven to back up their defense all season long. Therefore, I believe the Seahawks will walk away as the Super Bowl Champions. Whatever the outcome, hopefully this game will be exciting and entertaining.
